The Importance of Evidential Mediumship

Evidential Mediumship is the gathering and relying on spirit for information in order to assist the client with identifying and validating the loved the Medium is connected to in spirit. A Medium does this by using their senses. Clairaudience is receiving messages by hearing what is normally inaudible. Claircognizance is acquiring knowledge without knowing how or why. Clairsentience is feeling beyond what is normally percepted. Clairvoyance is seeing beyond what is normally percepted. Clairalience is the ability to acquire knowledge by smelling beyond what is usually percepted. Clairgustance is the ability to receive messages through taste without putting things in the mouth. Using evidence to create a connection not only helps the Medium to communicate clearly with spirit. It also creates a trusting bond between the Sitter and the Medium which is ultimately important. Learning to collect evidence takes time and practice. A great way to learn is to be trained by a Certified Evidential Medium or by joining developmental circles. Creating a daily meditation routine also helps. A newer Medium should also keep track of their symbols by writing them in a journal. No Medium reads the same and all symbols can vary depending on the Medium.

A good way for newer Mediums to organize and give readings is by way of the CERT method. The CERT method helps readers to create a flow and sort through information received from spirit.

1. Characteristics: Giving the reader a description helps the reader to identify the spirit that is present. This includes approximate height, Hair color, hair style, personality, or body type.

2. Evidence: Once the sitter has identified the spirit. The reader solidifies the connection by providing evidence. Evidence can include: How they passed away. Names of the spirit or family members. Number of Children. Type of Work. Their Hobbies or foods they liked. Experiences or memories they have. Word phrases they often used or anything unique to that spirit.

3. Relaying the Message: What message does the spirit have for the sitter.

4. Tying up the reading: Ask the sitter for any final questions. Check with Spirit for any final messages.

Remember to always communicate with compassion. Always get a feel for the mental and emotional state of the sitter before establishing the connection. Grief can be tricky and how people deal with it can differ from person to person. Providing evidences provides reassurance that there is indeed a true connection.
